Varanasi: This Eid will bring extra sweetness with love and compassion for Razia, Najma, Khushboo and many others, as the sewain they will prepare to celebrate the festival has come from their Hindu sisters and brothers.
“Hum bahut khush hain ki hamare Hindu bhai-beheno ne Eid ke liye hume sewaiyan di. Isme bhai-chare ki khusboo hai (We are delighted to have sewain from our Hindu brothers and sisters. It has fragrance of goodwill),” said Razia, who received sewain, rice, atta (flour), oil and papad at a food grain distribution programme held by Anaj Bank (food grain bank), an initiative of a local NGO Vishal Bharat Sansthan, in Hukulgaj on Monday.
It is not just a programme of food distribution to poor families, but an example of communal harmony, said another recipient Saeeda Begum. About 300 poor Muslim families of the locality were given food items for Eid celebration. The Anaj Bank collected food grains and other edibles from its account holders for free distribution among poor families. Presently there are 130 account holders of the Anaj Bank and majority of them belong to Hindu community, said VBS founder Rajiv Srivastava. Food grains are distributed every month among the needy families but sewain was distributed for the first time.
