We are indeed the land of the free and the brave and this is what makes America great. This freedom has given us a sustainable government for 240 years and will continue through eternity.
Our constitution is embedded in our enduring values, it is in our psyche and it is in our attitudes and it is natural. Every now and then, we will “react” to dire situations and take wild detours, but in the long haul we will stick to our values.
It is in our (every American’s) interests to stick to the core values of our constitution. This will minimize phobias like “What will happen to our culture and our way of life” as we all would be on the same page. Each one of us need to assure each other that we stand for the same America, and that we need not fear about the future, and instead join together and build on our enduring values of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
Thanks to the wisdom of Jewish community, their experience has endowed them with a built-in radar to sense the problems miles away, and they proactively work on immunizing us (all Americans) from such viruses. They have taken the lead in countering on one such flawed idea; Muslim registry.
Just about every Rabbi and Jewish leader has taken a bold stand against the registry, which I have mentioned in my article at Huffington post .
As an individual, I cherish these values of America and am committed to preserve them – that means I am making a serious commitment to stand up for the rights of every American. If I don’t stand up for others, why should anyone stand up for me?
The following item in Huffington post was heart warming;
“More than 200 employees of technology companies including Alphabet Inc’s (GOOGL.O) Google, Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) and Sales force pledged on Tuesday to not help U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s administration build a data registry to track people based on their religion or assist in mass deportations.”
“Alphabet Chief Executive Officer Larry Page, Apple Inc (AAPL.O) CEO Tim Cook, Facebook Inc (FB.O) Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg and Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) CEO Jeff Bezos and Oracle Corp (ORCL.N) CEO Safra Catz are among those expected to attend the summit with Trump’s transition team, according to two technology industry sources.”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/tech-employees-promise-never-to-help-trump-build-a-muslim-registry_us_58519b0ce4b092f08686dac3?
This is laudable! Why should these people stand up for Muslims? Ultimately, my safety hinges on safety of people around me, isn’t it?
